Fashion Inspiration from Lemon Breeland

Hart of Dixie

Lemon's southern belle

Fashion Inspiration from Lemon Breeland I am absolutely in love with the tv show Hart of Dixie. It is a show that I have been missing because it is on its Summer break. My favorite character on this show is a true southern belle by the name of Lemon Breeland. Not only does she speak her mind and stand up for herself and her friends, but she has the best clothes on the show. Now, I think all of the ladies on the show dress very well, but I just adore Lemon's style on the show. She is almost always in the prettiest skirts or dresses and she always has some kind of sparkle be it a gorgeous necklace, a sequin skirt, or an embellished sweater or cardigan. Plus, she constantly has the most beautiful headbands! Have you seen the show? Is Lemon your favorite character too? What do you think of her style?

Style Icon: Gwen Stefani

I love that Gwen Stefani is so bold and brave when it comes to what she wears. She isn't afraid to wear what she likes. Be it bold geometric print or bright colors, if she likes it she wears it. I think some of us could learn a few things from Gwen when it comes to this. I'm not one for bold and bright myself, but generally if I like it I wear it. I know some people who won't wear something if it's not in style or if they think others won't like it. Gwen Stefani is willling to take fashion risks and I think more of us should be willing as well. I love all of the looks and photos of her above. Most of the time when you see photos of Gwen on the street she is wearing comfy yet stylish clothes. What are your thoughts on her style?

Being a Copy Cat

One of my favorite tv shows is Once Upon a Time. At first I was iffy on this show, but Tracy really got me into it. We never missed an episode (DVR is amazing). At first I loved trying to figure out what fairy tale character each of these Storybrook residents were supposed to be. I absolutely loved Jamie Chung as Mulan in this series. I think she does and excellent job in this role. After seeing her in Once Upon a Time, I began to notice her more online. I think she has a very chic sense of style. She always seems to be dressed wonderfully.
Below you see one look that she sported this summer that I love. It is chic and semi-casual at the same time. This look is effortless and beautiful. I recreated the look keeping the same feel to the outfit but using other colors. What do you think? Do you love Jamie Chung as Mulan in Once Upon a Time like I do?

Dresses Making Headlines This Week

I love when fashion makes headlines and the following two dresses seemed to be everywhere this week: Michelle Obama during an interview this week wore a $35 dress from H&M. I love when celebrities and other figures in the public eye wear affordable, accessible fashions. While Mrs. Obama's stylist has added sleeves to the dress I prefer the original version that can been seen here on H&M's website. I like this navy dress with the white print and shades of blue paired with orange is one of my favorite color combinations. Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan made her own news by wearing a tight minidress to court this week. I don't think there is any doubt that this look was inappropriate to wear while appearing in court for grand theft of a $2,500 necklace but I actually think this dress is pretty. Lindsay just needed to choose a different occasion on which to wear it. I also love her Chanel sunglasses. The $575 dress is said to be sold out on all online retailers.

What are your thoughts on these two dresses?

Major Makeover: Kelly Osbourne

Until recently I would have never invisioned Kelly Osbourne as a fashionista. Kelly has had her fair share of fashion errors as seen above. I'm not sure if she wasn't trying or if she was trying too hard, but Kelly's style has changed in recent years. Kelly has ditched her sloppy, goth teenager style, for something more chic and sophisticated. She has even strutted her stuff down a runway. Growing up in the public eye cannot be easy and many of Kelly's struggles have been made public but after rehab and her recently transformed body she is looking happier than ever. Kelly's current look is a mixture of rocker chick and designer. I love Kelly's spin on the little black dress and found my own version of the dress for just $60. It's amazing how effective a little black dress with a statement necklace can be.

Dress $60 - ae.com
Heels $21 - amiclubwear.com
Clutch $39 - endless.com
Cocktail Ring $15 - dorothyperkins.com
Necklace $19 - boohoo.com
Kelly's nude, tiered dress is perfection. I even find her light purple hair adorable. I had to recreate this beautiful look on a budget. To add some glitter to this dress I suggest pinning some huge rhinestone brooches around the waist of this dress.

Dress $120 - senseofashion.com
Heels $30 - urbanog.com
Clutch $45 - endless.com
Earrings $28 - topshop.com
Bracelet $13 - dorothyperkins.com
Brooch $18 (each) - yesstyle.com
Polka dots pop up quite often in Kelly's closet and who can blame her if she can look this good in them? In did my own version of her outfit while managing to keep each piece at $30 dollars or less.

Shirt $28 - houseoffraser.co.uk
Skirt $25 - gap.com
Heels $30 - spirithalloween.com
Oversized Clutch $25 - senseofashion.com
Earrings $25 - fantasyjewelrybox.com
Headband $9.59 - funaccessories.com.au

What do you think of Kelly's style? Has she picked up her game lately?

Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery

This week I have 3 celebrity looks that I've created my own version of to share with you. Plus each of my looks costs considerably less than the celebrities version. Every item contained in each of my polyvores below is less than $50. Blake Lively looks great here. This is an amazing dress for a night on the town or a party. The sequin black dress is a definite show stopper and will show off your legs. Pulling back your hair lets you enjoy the night without worrying about your hair. This is a chic look and black is always classic. Adding a little sparkle will make you the envy of everyone around.

Nail Polish $21 - nordstrom.com
Hair Elastics - lifestyle.ca.msn.com
Stud Earrings $22 - fantasyjewelrybox.com
Black Pumps $50 - endless.com

Taylor Swift looks very put together here in her Victorian inspired blouse and tiered skirt over patterned tights. What I also love about this look is the soft curls and the great eye makeup.

I have always been a fan of Rachel Bilson's style. She always looks put together no matter what the situation is. This look is very casual and I can totally see myself wearing it during the weekend or to hang out with friends. I'm going to give major credit to the belt and the cowboy boots for making this outfit look very put together.

Copy Cat

I believe that fashion is a way to express yourself and everyone should develop their own style but when I see someone with a flattering, cute look that I think I can pull off myself I'm not above copying it or using them as inspiration for my own look. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. A few years ago I would have never invisioned Nicole Richie as a style icon but she has really stepped up her game. I love her boho-chic style. She always manages to keep it feminine and chic by mixing loose, oversized clothes with fitted, tailored pieces. Look One:
Goldy-Belle Maxi Dress $135 - frenchconnection.com
Brown leather jacket $1,680 - net-a-porter.com
Amrita Singh Alanna Bangle Set $100 - couturecandy.com
Julie K Handbags $517 - couturecandy.com
Nuria Brown Sandals $445 - barneys.com

Look 2:
Warehouse Graphic Print Maxi - osoyou.com
Enamel & Twist Stack Bangles $16 - asos.com
Black leather jacket $2,065 - brownsfashion.com
Brea GM Handbag $1,940 - louisvuitton.com
Studded leather sandals $400 - net-a-porter.com I've always thought Rachel Bilson was a great fashionista. She always manages to look trendy but also classy. She makes looking great seem so simple.
Boyfriend Destroyed Jeans $145 - coggles.com
Clarks Women's Betty Lou Clog $33 - endless.com
Crafted Boyfriend Blazer $53 - republic.co.uk
Heather Gray Perfect Fit Tees $2.49 - oldnavy.gap.com
Prada 'Vintage' Aviator Sunglasses $225 - nordstrom.com
Delettrez Red Love Ring $315 - luisaviaroma.com
Bayswater leather bag $1,150 - net-a-porter.com
Metal Bow Detail Skinny Belt $30 - topshop.com

These looks are perfect for summer and with the help of the jackets can easily transition into fall. I love the relaxed, effortlessly great looks they present.
