For When You're Feeling Under the Weather

For When You're Feeling Under the Weather
I have been under the weather since Thursday night. I have a very stuffy nose and head. It seems like it is hard to hear because of the congestion. I have just felt very tired and unmotivated. When I am feeling under the weather, I just want to stay at home to relax and rest. I don't want to go to work and I definitely don't feel like being around crowds of people. When I'm sick, I have certain items that are a must to making me feel better. Don't you?

ONE // Throw: I need a comfy blanket like this Banded Herringbone Throw. I am never cold unless I'm sick, so a comfy throw to snuggle up in is a must for me.

TWO // Lip Balm: I definitely need something like this Sugar Lip Balm to keep my lips from drying out. When I am constantly coughing, like I have been, I need something to add some moisture to my lips.

THREE // Mug : Whenever you are sick, everyone tells you to make sure to drink plenty of fluids. Why not have an adorable coffee mug like this Owl Mug? It even has a cute message inside it.

FOUR // Pajamas: This is absolutely the most important item on the list. When you feel bad, you absolutely need to be in comfy pajamas to help you relax and rest. Cute pajamas like this Heidi Klum Pajama Set will definitely help you be comfy and cute.

FIVE // Comfy Spot: Once you have assembled all of the other items here you need to find a comfy spot to relax and get better in. It could be somewhere like this Miramar Chair or a plush couch or even your bed.

SIX // House Slippers: You also need something like these Pom Pom Slippers to keep your feet warm.

Comfy Pajamas
I absolutely love pajamas. Around the house, when I am not expecting any visitors, I wear pajamas most of the time. They are just so cozy and comfortable. After a stressful day of hard work it is a relief to come home and pull on a pair of pajamas. All of the above sets are beautiful. I have a wide variety of pajamas. Some are solid and neutral and some are very colorful. I have one set of pajamas with very colorful stripes that Tracy likes to make fun of and call my clown pajamas. I know some people do not like pajamas, what are your thoughts?

What To Wear: Updated Joggers

What To Wear: Updated Joggers
Quilted Collarless Jacket (only $89!) / Jersey Tee / Gold Necklace / NARS Jungle Red Lipstick / Transport Tote (great everyday tote) / Side Striped Joggers / Slip-On Sneakers / Double-Wrap Watch (love this watch!) / Button Earrings / NARS La Notte

Last fall I totally fell for chic sweatshirts and over the last few months I have gradually determined that updated joggers are a must have item. Updated joggers are well designed and far different from the ill-fitting jogging pants I wore as a child. The key to look for when purchasing joggers are that they should be fitted at the waist and ankle but have a little room throughout the leg. My favorite pair of joggers is currently sold out but is similar to these. Comfortable joggers make a great alternative to jeans and look great paired with heels and sleek blazer or a tee and slip-on sneakers (another love of mine see here). I paired my look above with a collarless moto jacket. For other great moto jackets see here, here, here.

Chit Chat: Clutter Free Living

Chit Chat: Clutter Free Living
A couple weeks ago I posted my Summer To-Do List. One item on that list was to finally spring clean and over that last two weeks I have been devoting a little time most days to doing exactly that. The progress has made home feel surprisingly refreshing, especially my bedroom where I have managed to do the most decluttering.

Over the last two weeks I have packed up so many boxes of clothes, shoes, handbags, and books that I have since given away or donated. I am amazed at how much I accumulate. There is no denying that I am a collector beautiful trinkets and baubles, that I enjoy surrounding myself with pretty items, and that I may care just a little too much about fashion but I had arrived at a point where I had to realize that surrounding myself with so many items not only added too much clutter to my life it also added stress.

We live in a world where continuously buying more and more is not only the norm but mass consumption is celebrated. I had accumulated so much stuff that I was drowning. My closet door would barely shut, there was not a single drawer that had any empty space, handbags were scattered everywhere, and I was basically tripping over shoes each time I entered my room because I had long ago ran out of shoe storage. My solution was to ruthlessly purge. I spent hours going through my closet, under my bed, every drawer, every basket, every tray, and even my jewelry box. If something didn't have a large amount of sentimental value or I hadn't used it recently it got boxed up to be given away.

And what did I learn? Reducing clutter is so freeing. My bedroom feels so much more calm and serene. I actually think I sleep better. Spending time in my bedroom is much more enjoyable since I am not surrounded by so much stuff. My clothes and accessories are neatly put away and organized in places where I can actually find them quickly and I still have plenty of pretty baubles and sparkly things to make me happy plus now I can enjoy them more because they are not hidden by items I never really loved.

Getting rid of excess items took effort but it has definitely simplified my life and made my home more peaceful. Next up I plan to tackle my other favorite room, the kitchen.

Am I the only person who didn't actually manage to have the time to spring clean in the spring?

Stylish For Less: Comfy Classics

Stylish For Less: Comfy Classics
Racerback Top / Triads Necklace / Aviator Sunglasses / Earrings / Jogging Trousers / Lipstick in Get Rich / Nail Polish in Cocquelico Red / Stackable Rings / Converse Chuck Taylors

Being comfortable is important, especially on my days off. Also, lately I have been into slightly sporty looks. This outfit would be something I would definitely wear when not at work. It is comfy plus I would not be embarrassed to be seen in public in it. I love the zipper details on these joggers. A sassy red lip and simple jewelry sets off the outfit and makes it just girly enough to fit into my style.

A Comfy Spot at Home

A Comfy Spot at Home Every home should have a comfy spot just for you. This is a spot where you can rest and relax. You should have space and comfy cushions. In our home my comfy spot is a big green chair in the corner of our living room. I'm usually the only one who ever sits in this spot, because you can't see the tv from it. This is my comfy spot because I have plenty of light and space to sit and read. I can sit there with my cat, blanket, and a good book for hours. It's also nice that there is an end table near it to house my water or pepsi. All of the above look like wonderful comfy spots to me. What is your comfy spot?

What to Wear: Finishing Your Christmas Shopping

Over the weekend I went on a massive shopping trip with Tracy and finished up my Christmas shopping. When it comes to Christmas shopping, the later you wait the more stressful it will become. I love browsing the stores searching for the perfect presents for my family and friends. Gifts that they will love and use. As Christmas nears though, the stores are loud and super crowded, traffic is horrible, and the weather gets more iffy. What are your thoughts?
For those reasons, if you still have shopping to do you want to dress comfortably and warm. But of course you still want to look amazing. For me this would involve pants, warm coat, and flats. Below is an example of a look I would wear if I still had Christmas shopping to do.

Must Have: Comfy Tee

A tee is a fashion staple in every closet. When I think of tees, a plain white tee immediately pops into my mind. Is that the first type of tee you think of? While a plain white tee is a closet staple because you can wear it in so many different ways. When paired with jeans or shorts you have the perfect casual look, pair a plain white tee with a skirt and you have a playful look. You can even transition your plain white tee into a work appropriate look with a blazer and pencil skirt or slacks.
Plain white tees are not the only tees a girl needs though. Right now I am thinking about comfy tees. You know those cute but comfy tees that you rely on when you have places to go and things to get accomplished but don't feel like being stuck in anything that is the slightest bit uncomfortable? I wish I could wear comfy tees to work everyday. Do you have a favorite comfy tee? My favorite comfy tee would have to be a purple tee that I have with the John Lennon quote, "There are no problems, only solutions." It is just so soft!

Lounging Around

I am not an advocate of wearing sweats in public but it is hard to deny that I don't enjoy being wrapped in the comfy, cozy warmth especially when the temperatures are frigid outside. When doing chores around the house or lounging and watching Lifetime movies all day like I did last Sunday I want to be comfortable but the girly girl inside me still wants to be chic. A few simple tips for accomplishing this are:

♦ Look for oversized sweatshirts that are long and not bulky so they look like a tunic.
♦ Instead of a sweatshirt try a sweater dress with tights and boots and if you have to go out later simply add a blazer and a statement necklace.
♦ Shop for fitted sweatpants and yoga pants to flatter your body and avoid looking sloppy.
