Too Much of a Good Thing

Too Much of a Good Thing
Tracy and I had such a fun-filled busy weekend. We started Friday evening with art class, where we painted a night scene. There was a big moon in the sky and a big tree running down one side of the canvas with owls sitting in the tree. We both painted an owl family sitting in our trees. I always feel like everything if going wrong with my paintings in art class until at the end and then when I'm finished I think I have actually done a good job.

Then on Saturday and Sunday we were in Lexington. Saturday we attended Lexicon, a board gaming convention with our cousin. We spent the day playing games that we could check out of their library. We both even won board games before we left the convention that night. Sunday we went shopping and tried to hit up the Lilly Pulitzer collection that Target released. We only ended up with a couple of items, but not any of the things we really wanted.

After such a busy weekend we kind of taking a break this week and won't have as many posts as we usually do. I hope you all had a great weekend too!

I am crazy for this style of headbands for spring.

This skirt is so pretty.

Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend
Lately I have been having really great weekends and I expect this one to follow suit. These great weekends are making the hectic weeks a little more bearable. This weekend I am getting together with friends to discuss some plans and have lunch. Also in the plans is an outdoor concert. Sunday will involve sleeping in, having pancakes for brunch, and possibly doing a little work for the week ahead. What will you be doing this weekend?

Chat Chit: How Do You Spend Your Weekends?

Chit Chat: How Do You Spend Your Weekends?
This weekend was a blast. Every single moment was filled with activity but not with the mundane types of things you are required to do. Easily 95% of my weekends are spent trying to get a jump on next week's work, doing chores and running errands I have no time for during the week, and if I am lucky squeezing in a little time for blogging. Not this weekend. Maybe come Tuesday or Wednesday when I start feeling behind I begin to regret it but right now I feel like I had a weekend well spent.

Over the weekend I spent time my favorite cousin, went to a lunch that involved Texas Cheese Fries with friends, took part in a game night that lasted way into the early morning hours, indulged in a Sunday pancake brunch, visited my grandmother, prepared food to get me through lunch and dinner for the next few days, tried on my newly arrived Halloween costume several times, and spent some quality time cuddling with my adorable cat. I cannot remember the last time I spent some much time laughing or the last time I laughed so hard. Absolutely nothing productive occurred and I for one time did not care.

It would be wonderful if every weekend could be spent having fun and concentrating on living every single moment. I do try to block off 3 or 4 hours every weekend do something I enjoy. However, life is so busy (as it is for everyone) that I haven't learned to how to let go of all my responsibilities and to do lists for entire weekends on a regular basis.

How do you spend your weekends? Are you typically able to unplug and forget about work? Do you have tons of errands and chores that spill over onto the weekend? Or are you able to unwind and concentrate on having fun?

Friday Favorites

The weeks are really flying by. It is hard to believe that it is already Friday. I love pajamas and Eberjery pjs are always impeccable. I have been in love with this necklace since I first noticed it earlier this week and I would love to spend a lazy morning in bed flipping through this book.

Happy Weekend

After a fairly quite month at work I expect things to start picking up and being extremely busy when I get back in the office on Wednesday for the next few months so I plan on making the most of my 4 day weekend and enjoying every moment. I'm going to be entertaining out of town guests, attending a wedding (side note: don't you just love weekends that involve a reason to get dressed up and eat cake), try a couple new recipes, read a good book, visit my grandmother, and sneak in a nap. All of this before celebrating my birthday on Tuesday (another guilty free reason for enjoying cake!).

What are your plans for the weekend?

Strawberries are only in season a few more weeks so if you have any extra time this weekend try one of the delicious strawberry recipes we have pinned on Pinterest or this easy Strawberry Tart that is one of my family's favorite treats.

Time Flies

As a beautiful weekend comes to a close I always start thinking about the work week ahead. All of the things that I need to get finished. Meetings that I will need to go to or stay late for. Extra work related errands that I will have to run after my normal work hours are completed. Thinking about work always makes me think about what time I need to get up in the morning. This leads me to thinking about alarm clocks and how I wish I had a pretty alarm clock to wake up to each morning, even though I would still not want to get up. Other than being my wake up call a pretty alarm clock would help brighten my room.

I have decided that I am on a quest to find a beautiful, not to expensive (oh alright cheap) alarm clock. I don't have a lot of space for one, so it would also have to be small nothing much bigger than a normal alarm clock. I find all of the alarm clocks above beautiful. Some cost a little more than I plan on spending, but these give me ideas of what I want to look for. I love the normal looking alarm clocks with the pretty patterns and designs, but I also love the not so typical looking alarm clocks like the pink bird. What do you think?

Any ideas as to where I can find a cute, cheap alarm clock?

Weekend Fun

It has been a long time since I have done a Friday Favorites post, so I decided this week was an excellent week to do so. My week has been a crazy busy week. This is the first full week I have had to work in several weeks, due to the snow and bad weather. Being the first full week back in like a month, I have had a lot of catching up do and had to stay late every day except today! So I am really looking forward to some time to unwind and have some fun this weekend. So what am I planning to do this weekend?

I haven't had a lot of time for tv this week and I missed a couple of shows that I ALWAYS watch, so I plan to find this online this weekend and catch up.

Before Christmas I had ordered a bunch of books online and have had two boxes of books in the corner of my bedroom. During my snow days I have been reading through the books and I am ALMOST finished! I think I have like 5 left.

My sister and I have been planning a shopping trip to the mall for several weekends now, but the weather keeps preventing. This Saturday calls for a light snow only, so fingers crossed we can make the trip! Plus I have a Barnes and Noble gift card from Christmas that I still need to spend.

My cat, looks something like this, but with a little white around his mouth. I will definitely be spending some time taking care of him this weekend. He is very demanding.

My sister and I have a new cake recipe that we plan to try this weekend. Hopefully all goes well and we can post it on the blog!

What are your weekend plans?

Weekend Warrior

This past weekend the Weekend Warrior I was not. I love weekends. And who doesn't? Especially when it is a 4 day weekend, like this last one was for me. 4 blissful, free days to do anything I wanted. Often though my weekends seem to blur by in a haze of things I have to do when all I really wanted to do was catch up on some much needed rest. Well not last weekend. Instead I decided to follow the advice of Bill Watterson, the American cartoonist who created the comic Calvin and Hobbes and who said, "Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless." Besides a few hours spent doing a little shopping Friday, my weekend was very laid back and relaxing. As a bonus, I scored some absolutely amazing deals while out shopping. Don't you love holiday sales? And I enjoyed a banana split milkshake before heading home. Yum! Sleeping in was the best part of my weekend. Usually by the end of the work weekend and my 5:15 am wake ups, I'm left exhausted. I love my bed. It is so big and comfy. My sheets feel wonderful and I have lots of warm quilts to cuddle up in. I slept extra late this past weekend. And when I did wake up I didn't rush out of bed. Instead I took my time waking up. I enjoyed some alone time this weekend during which I read magazines and watched hours of random tv and B movies. I sampled numerous desserts this weekend. I baked a peanut butter cheesecake for my sister. I'll share the recipe later. And I attended a family gathering for a couple hours Sunday where there was at least a dozen desserts.

So there was nothing exciting to share about my weekend but still it was very close to being a perfect weekend.

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?

Wonderful Weekends

This week has been very stressful for me. I have had to stay late at work and stay up late to get some assignments finished. When Friday rolled around I was so happy. When the work day ended I stayed 45 minutes late and finished everything. I was ecstatic to have no work to do over the weekend. On my way home I cranked the radio up and sang along to the music. I had this wonderful weekend to rest, relax, and just do anything that I want to do. No work whatsoever. That makes weekends one of the things that make me happy. So sit back and enjoy your weekend!!Keep Dreaming,
