Home Sweet Home

Source: google.se via Sunny on Pinterest

I have only lived alone once in my life. It was several years ago, while I was attending school. I had a wonderful little apartment about 10 minutes from school that at the time I didn't fully appreciate. I now miss the quiet time that living alone generates, the not living with someone who creates a dictatorship over the thermostat, and not constantly being told were my things can and cannot be placed.

My biggest regret about my former little apartment is that I didn't give it the love it needed and I didn't really make it a home. Knowing it was only a temporary arrangement (yes I view three years as temporary) I barely decorated it. Instead I carried in only the essentials and basic furniture. Never during the three years I lived there did I hang a single item on the walls.

Being the girly girl I am I should have painted the walls pink and brought in every feminine detail I could think of. My apartment should have been filled with sparkly, glittery things and full of warmth and softness. If I am ever afforded a do-over when it comes to my own little place I will definitely do it right next time.

  1. I absolutely love all the chandeliers! I have such a thing for them. Will definitely have one in my room some day :P and I know exactly what you mean about wanting your own place and space sometimes without having to share with anyone. <3

  2. I've lived in five apartments of "my own" and always gone all out on the decorating - I love the process of turning space into a home!

  6. isn't settling into a place and decorating so fun? i know what you mean about temporary living though... lovely photos you have.
and, girl, i appreciated your comment on my site. I love being adventurous, but to tell you the truth it doesn't come naturally! I'm the girl who didn't like change, and would rather be by familiar family and friends all the time. But i've made it a habit to always push the boundaries and look for more. I bet you can too:)
