New Years Resolutions

New Year Resolutions
Last January I shared my New Year's resolution to do more here. In 2015 my resolution was to do more. I wanted to get out there and live a little more by trying new things and saying yes to new opportunities. I think I did a lot to fulfill this resolution last year. Some of the new things that I accomplished last year, I still plan to do. For starters Tracy and I started a book club with some of our best friends and I can see this continuing for many years. We also attended our first board gaming convention with our cousin, who has been to many, this past year. We had a blast and have already ordered tickets for a board gaming convention in April. We had our first visit to a psychic and had tarot card readings. It was definitely very interesting. I swam with a dolphin on our summer vacation to Florida. I also went back to school last year to earn my next degree. These are just a few of the things that I did last year to really live my life.

So a lot happened last year and I want to keep that up this year. I want to keep exploring and trying new things. This year is going to get crazy hectic for me though. Between work, being back in school, and starting work on my National Board Certification I am going to be a busy busy bee. If you aren't in education you probably don't know about National Board Certified Teachers, but it is a crazy amount of work, but it is a great thing to have. It shows others in education that you know what you are doing. It is a prestigious title to have and it comes with a pay raise. All of this is going to keep me on my toes for the next 5 months. We are back to work after break, I have college classes starting in a couple of weeks, and I will be working on my first component for my National Boards. All of this seems like it could cause this upcoming year to be very stressful at times. Because of this my New Years resolution is have fun this year.

I am not going to let the stress get to me. Whenever it does, I am going to remember my resolution and take a break and have some fun. You need to be serious and a hard worker, but you can't be that way all the time. What do you suggest I do for fun this year?

What to Wear: Ringing in the New Year

Kate Spade Multi-strand Necklace - Ruby Earrings - Black Wool Coat - Crystal Bracelet - Gold and Black Tulle Dress - Black Tights - Gold Glitter Heels - Marc Jacobs Lola Nail Polish - Crystal Clutch

What to Wear: Ringing in the New Year
Do you have a tradition for how you spend New Year's Eve? Do you attend/host party to countdown the new year or do you stay up at home with your family and ring in the new year with them? Or perhaps it's just like any other day to you? If I were attending or hosting a party I would love to wear something like the above. I just imagine that dresses worn to a party on this occasion would be black, gold, or silver. Of course the dress would contain some sparkly, glittery, or metallic element. I think you should go all out with your jewelry and keep the colors simple for everything except maybe your nail polish. There you should definitely bring in some color or some sparkle. What are your thoughts?

Party Ideas

This year I don't have any plans for New Year's Eve. I would love to have a party to celebrate. These last few months have been so hectic and busy that I really didn't have any time to plan or get anything ready for a party. Maybe next year? Are you hosting a New Year's Eve party? Above are a few ideas that I have seen online that would be perfect for a New Year's Eve party. Any suggestions?

What are your plans for New Year's Eve? I am almost embarrassed to admit that in the last few years I have been in my bed sleeping away by the time the ball dropped. I have a wonderful friend who purchased this dress to wear to a party on New Year's Eve and it looks amazing in person. If I had plans to go out and ring in the new year I would definitely want a sparkly number like this or this. I have rounded up a few other #stylishforless finds below.

Two Looks For The Week

The last few weeks have been a blur of activity and after three weeks I am still battling a horrible sinus infection. We are finally experiencing a little winter like temperatures so I am looking forward to spending cozy evenings near the fireplace with a good book and celebrating a fresh start to a new year.

Goals For The New Year

This year instead of creating unattainable resolutions for myself I have put some thought into establishing a few goals that are within reach. With a little effort I should be able improve the upcoming year and make it a little healthier, happier, and fulfilling.

Goal #1: Eat more fruits and veggies.

Should be easy for a vegetarian right? I currently struggle with eating enough fruits and vegetables because I feel like I seldom have any free time to prepare them. After long days at work I often come home and reach for the first thing I can find the put in the oven or microwave. This year I want to set aside a little time each week to prepare healthy meals and to even try a few new fruits and vegetables.

Goal #2: Read More

I love to read but again, I often say I am too busy to find the time. This year I want to read 12 new books, which equals out to 1 book per month and only a few pages a day. Anyone should be able to find that time to accomplish that.

Goal #3: Ride a Carousel

I have developed a huge crush on carousels during the last few years. I have even collected a few little ones that are now scattered around my bedroom, but I have never in entire life actually been on a carousel. That's going to change this year.

Goal #4: Travel Someplace New

I love to travel but always find myself returning to the same places, this year I need to be a little more adventurous and schedule a vacation someplace I have never been before.

Goal #4: Organize and Maintained Organized My Closet

My closet is currently a disaster zone. I am positive it would take at least a week to organize and clean it out. I think cleaning out my closet and working to keep it organized throughout the year will help me save time getting dressed in the morning and also help save money by keeping me from purchasing some unneeded items.

Have you established any goals for yourself for the New Year?
