Perfect Summer Shoes and Nail Polish Pairings

Perfect Summer Shoes and Nail Polish Pairings

Summer is the time for opened-toed shoes and sandals. It's time to shed those winter boots and display your pretty toes. If your feet need some work you can check out this post on the Prefect Home Pedicure. Here are my ideas for the perfect Summer shoe and nail polish pairings.

1. Jessica Simpson Slingback Sandals and Ciate London Hutch Nail Polish - Nothing goes better with an animal print than a vibrant red color.

2. Leather Studded Sandals and Nails Inc. Notting Hill Lane Nail Polish - Really any nail polish is going to look fantastic with black sandals but why not amp up the edge with a glitter nail polish or a polish containing confetti?

3. Metallic Gladiator Sandal and Ciate London Ditch the Heels Nail Polish - When wearing a metallic shoe, I never wear a metallic polish. I love green with a metallic gold, but also a matte black would look great. Or really any matte color paired with the metallic shoe would pop.

4. Blue Wedge Sandal and Formula X Incandescent Nail Polish - Blue and orange are just a perfect Summer color combination. This would be perfect flip flopped with an orange shoe and a blue polish as well.

5. Red Ankle Strap Sandal and Formula X Out of Sight Nail Polish - With a hot red heel a metallic gold or a black would be my go to colors.

6. Green Ankle Strap Sandal and Ciate London Bubblegum Bellini Nail Polish - This color combination is so preppy! It also makes me think of water melon which is definitely Summer.

I have painted nails way more often in the fall and winter than I do any other time of the year. I am so much more likely to take the time to paint my nails while cozying up inside and catching up on a favorite tv show or chatting with friends than I am during the super busy warmer months when I seem to always be on the go.

I have been paying close attention to fall nail polish trends so I can stock up on some new colors. I love the on trend hues this fall including inky blues (like this, bold plums (like this), and creamy nudes (like this). I have include some more in my guide above.

What are your favorite nail polish colors for this fall?

Spring Nail Polish Guide
Nail polish is one makeup item that I absolutely love. I just can't seem to get enough bottles of nail polish. There are just so many pretty colors that it is hard not to buy a bottle when you see a new shade that you love. This Spring I am really thinking about white, pastels, and metallic colors when it comes to my nail polish. White is such a classic, crisp color that it will surly stand out. Pastels are all about Spring and they are such subtle and feminie colors. I am always all about metallic colors. This Spring I want bold, colorful metallics. Radiant Orchid is also a nail polish color that every girl needs to own. What colors are you planning to use a lot? Below are some of my favorite options.

Fall 2013 Nail Polish Guide

I love how much of an impact a simple thing like nail polish can have. This Fall oxblood is continuing to be a go-to color for Fall. Metallics are also trending for Fall with anything from your metallic golds, bronzes, and silvers to your colored metallics as well. While bright and sunny colors are on point for Spring and Summer, Fall begs to be bold, dark, and daring with colors like emerald, navy, and black. While oxblood isn't really a color I gravitate towards, I love all of the other Fall trending colors. Metallics are probably my favorite, I love a little shimmer. What colors of nail polish are you sure to be sporting this Fall? Check out my guide below:

Julep for Summer

I am a huge fan of Julep nail polishes. Recently I went on a Florida beach vacation that was absolutely perfect. No stress, no work, no problems. Since being home I have missed the beach. Then I thought what better what to keep those relaxing vibes from the beach with me than to remind myself of the beautiful beach colors with a manicure? Since I have been a Julep Maven, I have collected quite a few nail polishes and I have found the perfect colors that inspire thoughts of the beach.

Julep at the Beach

Oscar with its multi-dimenstional gold glitter makes me think of the sand.
Bunny is a crisp white with a golden shimmer and has a perfect resemblance to the white of the waves that hit the beach.
Claire as a bright sky blue reminds me of the lighter shades of ocean and sky.
Ivy, one of my favorite Julep colors, is a somewhat glittery metallic blue that makes me think of the darker ocean and sky colors.
Abbie is a beautiful sunshine yellow and makes me think of the sun shining on the beach.

What do you think? Do these colors make you think of the beach? Are you as much of a Julep fan as I am?

Winter Nail Polish

I have recently signed up for Julep Maven Boxes. To become a Maven you need to Julep's website and sign up for however many months you want it. It is $20 a month and you receive a box of 2-3 Julep nail polishes and another Julep item. I will get my first box soon! Anyway, this has me thinking about winter nail polish colors. This winter I think that glitter, sparkle, and metallics are very in, which makes me very happy because they are my favorites and even if they weren't in I would still be wearing them. Other than these I think red is a classic winter color, just because of Christmas. Also winter always makes me think of blues and blacks because of dark snowy days.
winter nail polish guide

Butter London Henley Regatta - OPI Listen to Your Momager - Dior Red Royalty - Essie Leading Lady - OPI Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi - Butter London Rosie Lee - Deborah Lippmann Glamorous Life - NARS Night Breed - ELF Chic Confetti - Essie Pure Pearlfection - ELF Dream Maker - Deborah Lippmann Shake Your Groove Thing - Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop - Rainbow in the S-Kylie
I am a strong believer in even if it isn't in you should still wear what you want and what you like. So other than my glitter, sparkle, and metallics, I will be wearing my greens and pinks because I love them. What colors will you be wearing?

A Nail Biter

There are so many great nail polish color choices for this Fall. Trending for this Fall includes nail polish shades of grays, glitters, and blues, plum, eggplant, and wine just to name a few. My personal favorites are the shades of blues and the hunter greens. When I am in need of a pop of bright color I love bold oranges for Fall.

I love nail polish when it comes in pretty bright colors. I also love all of the glittery shades of polish, but lately I am loving the white nail polish. It is clean and chic. Plus it's white and white looks good with almost anything. However, I am really liking the white nail polish paired with black and white clothing like in the pictures above. It you don't want to go with solid white nail polish you have options. The confetti like nail polish is beautiful and fun and the silvery glitter white nail polish just adds in some sparkle. I would love to have all of these nail polishes! What are your thoughts on white nail polish?

Trend Report: Ombre Nails

First it was ombre hair and now it ombre nails are everywhere. Ombre nails were first brought to my attention when I saw that Lauren Conrad had been seen sporting them on several occasions. The key to this look is finding five shades in the same family of colors without the transitions in shades being too drastic.

What is your opinion on ombre nails?

J'adore

These are a few of the things I love this week. I love sheer almost nude nail polish and I think Ballerina by Chanel may be the most perfect color right now with its subtle hint of pink. Beautiful loose updos with soft curls seem like the perfect hairstyle as it starts to warmup outside. Daffodils have always been how I judge when Spring is getting close. As soon as I notice them blooming are the river banks and along the roadway on my drive home from work I know the end of Winter is just around the corner. Cuties are one of my favorite foods at the moment. I have been eating two for lunch for days and the sweet stickers on them always make me smile. Today mine said "a party in your tummy" and "hi cutie." How I wish I had the space in my bedroom for a beautiful armoire like this. Full length mirrors. An antique feel. And slightly distressed white paint. Absolute perfection.

Nail Polish

Looking at my dashboard the other day I realized that there are some majorly creative people on Blogspot. It's not just when it comes to painting and drawing either. We are followers of some very impressive people when it comes to fashion, home decorating, cooking, and nail designs. I admit that I am not the best when it comes to nail designs or even getting my nails polished. I rarely even have nail polish on. I love it though, all of the pretty colors it comes in. I have looked through the blogs that I have been following and there are several who specialize in nail designs, and when I say specialize I mean they are freaky talented and amazingly creative. I have fallen in love with some of their designs and just have to share them with the rest of you, encase their brilliantness has escaped your attention.

You've Got Nail

This beautiful nail design comes from Jacie at the blog You've Got Nail. This is a Nail Rock design and Jacie calls it Black Lace on White. I love how feminine the design is, but is seems so edgy because it is black and white. If you click HERE, you will be taken directly to Jacie's blog post on how she created this look. It even includes a youtube video!

The PolishAholic

This beautiful nail design comes from Jen's blog The PolishAholic. This look is so adorable and I love the colors she choose to use. If you want the details on how Jen made this happen just click HERE.

Nailart Creations

I love these beautiful orange flowers in this nail design by Sylvia at the blog Nailart Creations. I think this is a more cheerful, playful design. If you want to know how Sylvia created this click HERE. Sylvia also has a post about a nail design she created that was inspired by a painting by Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan and if you would like to check that out click here.

Addicted to Konad

This nail design was created by Alexa at the blog Addicted to Konad. I love this starry design and am impressed with how easy Alexa makes it look. If you want to know how Alexa did this click HERE.

Blue Tape and Nail Tips

This shooting star design was created by Cyan at the blog Blue Tape and Nail Tips. I love looking at Cyan's nail designs, because the only tool other than her nail supplies that she uses is blue tape. I am so impressed with the designs that she comes up with. If you would like to check out this one click HERE.

I can barely paint my nails and make it look good, so I can't help but be impressed with all of the designs that these ladies come up with. They make them look so easy and they give the best instructions. I am going to have give these five a try soon.

Nail Polish Looks

Nail Polish is one of the easy ways to show more personality with your looks. It isn't that hard to apply and it looks beautiful. Nail polish is one way to make your look more feminine or edgy depending on the color you choose to use. I have chosen some of my favorite nail polish colors and paired them with a look.

Nail Polish 4
Here are some of my favorite Fall and Winter nail polish colors. I can see my self wanting to use these colors a lot this year. I will be using a lot of metallics, neutrals, and jewel tones.

NailPolish

Gold is really one of my favorite colors right now. I have no clothes that are gold, so gold nail polish is having to satsify my need for gold. I love keeping everything gold or neutral and then having a pop of color like the green in the bracelet.

Gold Ribbon Dress fashionright.com
Menbur Metallic Clutch $59 - endless.com
Sunset Pearl and crystal earrings $26 - houseoffraser.co.uk
Stella's Gold Antique Necklace $44 - fantasyjewelrybox.com
SEPHORA by OPI Only Gold For Me $9 - sephora.com
Navy Ruffle Detail Mac $105 - missselfridge.com
Gold Metallic Rhinestone Heels $28 - amiclubwear.com

Nail Polish 2

I think this purple jacket is absolutely beautiful. With the form fitting top I did not want the skirt to be form fitting, so I went with an A-line skirt. This outfit is perfect for work or for going out with friends. I added in the yellow bag because I love the purple and yellow color combination.

Mia's Amethyst Earrings $37 - fantasyjewelrybox.com
GUESS Jewelry $31 - zappos.com
SEPHORA by OPI Just a Little Dangerous $9 - sephora.com
Proenza Schouler Leather PS1 Pouchette $895 - barneys.com

zip side suede cuff bootie $25 - gojane.com
Waterfall jersey jacket Purple $110 - houseoffraser.co.uk
Melissa Mesh Skirt $105 - monsoon.co.uk

Nail Polish 3

I think the details make this outfit wonderful. The top, boots, and purse have beautiful detailing. This is a more casual look for work.

Cropped Cardigan Sweater $15 - 15dollarstore.com
GUESS Owens Ankle Boot $139 - endless.com
Lace Bow Back Top $27 - evanity.com
OPI Nail Polish Royal Rajah Ruby $9.69 - amazon.com
