Chit Chat: Making Time For Blogging

chit chat: making time for blogging
Last Friday I talked briefly about how busy this summer has been. While the busy days have been great and Jessica and I have been really enjoying our fun summer it has meant that we haven't been spending as much time blogging. It seems like we have barely been home this summer and when we are home many of our days have been spent entertaining friends or engaged in other hobbies we have picked up this summer.

We hadn't planned for our blog content to be so intermittent this summer but with our plates full something had to give. While normally I would have freaked out (I am kind of a Type A) by our lack of posts and by our lack of a regular blogging schedule, during the last couple months I decided that it was best to allow ourselves to have a break. Forcing ourselves to stress out or to try to create posts when time is limited didn't seem like the right thing to do.

Anyone who has ever blogged no matter how small their blog is knows that blogging and creating content takes a lot of time. While our blog is small it is our tiny little corner of the internet and we couldn't love it more. This summer we didn't want to force ourselves to create content just to have something to post. When time doesn't allow we have decided it is better to not post instead of sharing something we are not proud of or sharing something with you that we don't truly love or believe important.

With all of this being said now that Jessica is starting school again and my work schedule is getting back to normal we hope that we get back into our regular routine of posts.

How has summer been treating you? Have you been busy also?

Chat Chit: How Do You Spend Your Weekends?

Chit Chat: How Do You Spend Your Weekends?
This weekend was a blast. Every single moment was filled with activity but not with the mundane types of things you are required to do. Easily 95% of my weekends are spent trying to get a jump on next week's work, doing chores and running errands I have no time for during the week, and if I am lucky squeezing in a little time for blogging. Not this weekend. Maybe come Tuesday or Wednesday when I start feeling behind I begin to regret it but right now I feel like I had a weekend well spent.

Over the weekend I spent time my favorite cousin, went to a lunch that involved Texas Cheese Fries with friends, took part in a game night that lasted way into the early morning hours, indulged in a Sunday pancake brunch, visited my grandmother, prepared food to get me through lunch and dinner for the next few days, tried on my newly arrived Halloween costume several times, and spent some quality time cuddling with my adorable cat. I cannot remember the last time I spent some much time laughing or the last time I laughed so hard. Absolutely nothing productive occurred and I for one time did not care.

It would be wonderful if every weekend could be spent having fun and concentrating on living every single moment. I do try to block off 3 or 4 hours every weekend do something I enjoy. However, life is so busy (as it is for everyone) that I haven't learned to how to let go of all my responsibilities and to do lists for entire weekends on a regular basis.

How do you spend your weekends? Are you typically able to unplug and forget about work? Do you have tons of errands and chores that spill over onto the weekend? Or are you able to unwind and concentrate on having fun?

Chit Chat: Time

Chit Chat: Time
I wish I could be one of those girls who can tackle a million things successfully and without ever missing a beat but that is definitely not who I am. I feel more and more like I am just managing to get enough finished to make it to the next day. I think saying that I am busy is such a lame excuse for not accomplishing more but busy is exactly what I am.

It isn't a time management issue for me. I feel like when I set out to do a certain task I can get it finished without wasting any time and I definitely do not feel like I waste very much time on a daily basis. I do feel like I am always on the go and like there is always so much on my plate most of which are work related that once I finish one task I immediately have to dive into something else. That means that most days end with me getting home late from work, even later if I manage to squeeze in an errand or two, eating dinner, and then going to bed.

There are so many things that I would like to devote more time to because they are things I enjoy and some which I really need to devote more time to but I do not feel like I have any more time to give. I purchased the ingredients to bake a cake 3 weeks ago but I haven't found the time to bake it yet. I desperately need a haircut, so much so that I cannot remember my last haircut, but I cannot find a time to schedule one. I have had a movie recorded on my DVR for a year and a half that is waiting patiently for me to have a few hours alone with no to-do list requiring my immediate attention. I have under two months to get in my required Continuing Legal Education hours for this year. I have unanswered emails sitting in my inbox for a couple months now. And maybe most importantly I need time to devote to finding a job/career that actually makes me happy.

I went out of town over the weekend. I felt guilty all week leading up to the weekend knowing I would be unable to do anything on my two to-do list for a couple days and now I feel like this week will be one constant game of playing catch-up. Although I had fun over the weekend I am certain I would have backed out of the trip if there hadn't been people depending on me going.

How do you find time for everything? Is there some secret to it I am missing? I have seen some advice on Pinterest or just around the internet in general that is along the line of just removing some items from your to-do list but that is almost impossible when most of them relate to work. I would love to hear how you manage your time and how you find time for the things you enjoy.

A Stitch in Time

In any home you will fnd a clock in several different rooms. We all check the time frequently, whether it is to know how much longer we have before we have to leave for work or to meet up with friends or how much longer until we can leave work or how much longer until our favorite tv show. Knowing the time allows us to keep events scheduled and helps us stick to that schedule. Clocks are an accessory for your home. They come in many different styles, shapes, sizes, and colors. You can use the clocks in your home as a focal point, to accent what is already there, or to express your individuality.
