It is hard to believe it is already Monday. Weekends always seem to fly by. This week is going to be a busy one. I have a lot of appointments and meetings schedules out of the office and I am heading to a training on Wednesday.

One item that I will be getting a lot of use out of this week is a black blazer. I consider black blazers to be one of workhorses in my closet. It is versatile, classic, and because it is black it goes with basically everything I own. A high-end black blazer is one of the components of the perfect suit which I said last week is one of the 5 Investment Pieces every woman should have work. Over the years I have also picked up several inexpensive black blazers that I toss over everything including trousers, dresses, jeans, and skirts.

I have learned the hard way to I always keep a black blazer in my office. This lesson was learned one hectic day when I was scheduled to looking at dusty books out of the office all day doing research but was called and given almost no notice of an important meeting I had to attend in the office that day. I have almost a 90 minute commute to work each day so I had no time to go home and get dressed. Instead I ran like a mad woman around town to purchase something to wear to this meeting. Since that day along with a few other items a black blazer is something I always keep stashed away in my closet at work for an emergency or when something unexpected pops up.

Summer Blacks

Lace Top / Ruffled Jumpsuit (love this!) / Tie Shorts / Mesh Skirt / Chloe Tank (worth the investment) / Watch / Earrings (perfect) / Camisole / Fringe Skirt (so fun) / Jersey Dress / Mini Dress / Babydoll Dress / Sliders

The temperatures here have been sweltering lately so it probably is not ideal to go out dressed in head to toe black. Despite knowing that black fabrics retain heat much more than other shades I have been having a hard time resisting dressing in all black this summer. I am typically a girl who loves dressing in color and playing around with fun prints but lately basic black has been at the forefront of what I want to wear everyday.

The trick to wearing summer blacks is knowing that your favorite all black staples from fall and winter do not work during summer. It is all about your fabric choices. I always look for lighter, thinner fabrics to fight the heat. I have rounded up some of my favorite summer blacks like jumpsuit, this dress, and these shorts. I just stumbled across these earrings earlier today and I am in love with them.

We haven't had many cold days here yet. In fact throughout December we have had many days in the 60s, which is very unusual. In January and February I expect things to change and start to be very cold. Have you already been having cold weather? In looking ahead to the cold I have been looking online at new coats. There are just so many options. I have finally decided on black for the color. I feel that black is a a great choice because it is a neutral and I think black tends to look very professional. After all the holiday spending I am also looking for a great deal, so all of the coats above are under $50. I love all of these stylish for less options, but my favorite is probably this classic trench. Which option is your favorite?

I feel like Fall weather has been here for a few weeks now and that Winter weather will be here before I know it. Last week I mentioned that I had been looking through my wardrobe to determine if I needed to buy any pieces for Fall. I associate darker colors and earthy colors with Fall. Black is one color that is missing in my closet, so this week's #stylishforless post is all about black items under $50. I guess I have let this color slide in my closet because I don't really think of it as a color to wear very often in Spring or Summer. During those months I am more about pastels and brights. I would absolutely love to add this black jacket and this black dress. They would be great for Fall or Winter either one. What are your thoughts?

Leighton Denny Maneater Nail Polish - Black Ankle Boots love these

Lately the weather here has been cool and very rainy. It is definitely starting to feel more like Fall and less and less like Summer. I am already thinking about Fall fashion and what I have and what items that I might need. What about you? One Fall look that I love is mixing black and brown items together. I think these colors look so chic together. Years ago I did not like the color combination but now I love it. How do you feel about it?

What To Wear: Leather and Lace

Leather and lace
What To Wear: Leather and Lace
Leather Biker Jacket / Earcuffs / Astral Ring / Crystal Encrusted Ring / Lace Dress / Ray-Ban Sunglasses / Satchel / Peep Toe Booties

Leather and lace is the ultimate combination. Leather and lace are two totally different fabrics that give off extremely different vibes. Leather gives you a rock and roll, biker chick feel while lace is feminine and dainty. I love pairing a sweet lace dress with a leather jacket to give it an edgy vibe. Contrast makes fashion interesting and that applies with this masculine-feminine, tough and sweet combination. Pairing this look with some sassy booties and it is guaranteed to turn heads.

Let's hear it for three day weekends! I am so excited for an extra day before heading back to work next week. This weekend I have several new recipes I plan to try out and I also want to finally dive into my book club's first book. Speaking of books this coffee table book is a new favorite to my little mini collection. Above are a few more of my current favorites that I think would be perfect for the approaching fall including a great tote for running around town and a cozy sweater.

All Tied Up

Source: saifou.com via Sunny on Pinterest

It is stunning how a simple black ribbon can really elevate any look. Whether tied around your waist, neck, or hair a black bow is chic and simple while somehow managing to provide just enough dramatic flare. A well placed black ribbon can easy eliminate the need for most other accessories. Black ribbon is well on its way to becoming my current accessory of choice.
