Mad About Plaid

Plaid Blanket Scarf - Reversible Plaid Cape i love both sides - Plaid Button Up Shirt - Plaid Wool Coat - Plaid Loafers beautiful - Bomber Jacket perfect for a casual day - Biker Skirt - Oversized Shirtdress love it - Tory Burch Wallet - Slip On Sneakers

Mad About Plaid
When the colder seasons hit, I find myself putting up the floral prints and the polka dots and reaching more for my stripes and my plaids. I have now found myself in the position where I have only one plaid item in my whole entire wardrobe! I know, how could I let it come to this? The plaid top that own is a new favorite of mine. It is a button up top and I wear it with my favorite jeans constantly when I don't have to work. Do you love plaid? Do you have a favorite piece? My favorites would have to be this bomber jacket that would be perfect on casual days and these loafers that would be perfect for work.

Since I have gotten myself down to just one plaid item, I have spent some time looking for replacement pieces. I love everything above and it is just so too hard to pick only one favorite. I would love to splurge and buy everything up there, but right now I am on a necessities only budget. I have spent a lot of money over this past month to buy Christmas presents for everyone and now I need to save some money so that I can pay my credit card off. Then I can revisit this post and decide what plaid item I would like. Which one is your favorite? What would you buy?

Check out these other options for going plaid:

The Perfect Fall/Winter Coats

Woolrich Parnell Rain Coat - Faux Fur Collar Cape so chic - Morella Trench Coat - Casual Parka - Biker Jacket look tough in this - Gingham Trim Rain Jacket love the touch of gingham

The Perfect Fall/Winter Coats
Fall and Winter are times when you absolutely must use layering to your advantage. I love to layer different prints and colors together. Polka dots with stripes or stripes with florals are both favorites of mine. I even like layering the same print in either different sizes or colors. You can pull off a very beautiful layered look by mixing and matching your prints. You really just have to try stuff on together to determine if it looks right to you. After putting together an epic layered look you need the perfect coat to top it. I love all of these for different reasons. This one because of the small gingham details and this one for the how Parisian it would make me feel. What are your thoughts? Which is your favorite?

4 Beautiful Winter Dresses

Lace Cutout Dress way on sale right now - Knitted Jacquard Dress
Red Midi Dress love the bold color - Faux Fur Skirt Dress

4 Beautiful Winter Dresses
In the Winter the cold forces us to dress more practical for the most part. We want multiple layers of thick, cozy clothes to help beat the cold. Unless you plan on spending a ton of time outside though you can still wear what you want, you just have to make the right choices. One thing I noticing a lot of people wearing a lot less of is dresses. I love how easy a dress look comes together. You have the dress, the shoes, and a few accessories and you are good to go. In Winter though, you have to choose wisely when it comes to the accessories. Wear tights or knee high socks to cover your legs. Boots are perfect for a dress and for Winter. I say the taller the better. Add a stylish coat, gloves, and a statement necklace and your dress is good for Winter. Above are four of my favorite long sleeve dresses right now. Well, one of them doesn't have long sleeves but I loved it anyway! What do you think?

Turtleneck Sweater Weather

Turtleneck Sweater Weather
With temperatures below zero here, I am loving my sweaters. I have worn several of my new sweaters lately and received compliments on them. My favorite is an emerald green one because I absolutely love the color. While I am getting good use of my sweaters right now, I do not own a turtleneck sweater. After seeing some and viewing more online, like the ones above, I am very interested in them. They look so cozy and comfy. I love how the one piece could work in so many different types of looks. I love the pairing with the tulle skirt. What are your thoughts on these sweaters?

Winter: Hats and Scarves
Staying warm during the Winter months can be a problem, especially if you plan to enjoy some snowy Winter fun. Building snowmen, having snowball fights, and going sledding (all things that I plan on doing) can get quite cold. Even on days when you aren't planning to be out and about in the snow for long periods of time, the temperature can get quite cold. So every girls needs a few winter hats and scarves in a drawer. While Tracy and I were in NYC, I picked up a new hat and a new pair of gloves for myself at C Wonder. They have adorable foxes on them and the hat has a pom pom! I also have a few solids at my disposal.

Modcloth: Foxy Finds

The fox is one of my favorite animals. I think they are just so beautiful and graceful. A few months ago I happened upon two foxes near my house and I loved that they were together. A neighbor had told me that they had seen some foxes close to where we live before too. I like thinking that a cute fox family is still together in the hills around our farm.
I was browsing Modcloth earlier this week and loved so many things on their website. Modcloth is one of my favorite places to browse online. I think they have such unique items that have a bit of whimsy to them. I saw that they had so many cute items that had a fox on them and I just love it! Below are some of my favorite fox items from Modcloth. I think the white fox top just might be my favorite, what about you? I also really loved this ring and these flats. What do you think?

Release the Houndstooth

When I think of winter fashion I always think about houndstooth. The black and white houndstooth just doesn't seem to belong in other season to me. This classic and chic print is beautiful no matter what size the print it. I have to say that I am loving every single item I see in houndstooth. It could be a chic and sophisticated dress or a fun and flirty mini, this print is just beautiful. If you are not sure about the print, you can always start small. A houndstooth scarf or a pair of heels in the pair will make a statement on their own. I think I am loving coats in this print the most right at this moment. This print is great for wearing to work, for casual looks, and for going out on a date. What are your thoughts on the print? Do you have a favorite houndstooth item?

Stylish for Less: Coats Under $100

This week my #stylishforless post is four coats under $100. I love all of the coats that I have chosen below and would be very tempted to get one of them, if I hadn't just gotten a new wool peacoat for Christmas. I love my new coat. It is so soft and comfy, plus it really does keep me warm. I know we are already way into winter, but maybe you kept putting off getting a coat for yourself because you thought it would be too expensive and you had all of those Christmas gifts to buy. I also really love this coat and this one. They both cost $84. While I love coats in beautiful colors like the yellow one above and the red one below, I usually tend to stick to the neutrals when it comes to something like this. What about you? Do you go for the bold colors or the neutrals when it comes to coats?

What to Wear: Beating the Cold

This week's #whattowear is about beating the cold. Tracy and I have been enduring cold, snowy weather and I have seen a lot of you posting about the cold weather too. For the most part we have been staying in. The road conditions here have not been that great so traveling really has not been a doable thing. So, if you are stuck at home dressing for the cold is not as much of an issue because you can always snuggle under a blanket by the fire. But if you are going out, make sure you dress warm. Layers are perfect for cold weather. I love that coat below, but I also love this coat. Which one is your favorite?

Sweater Worthy Weather

This cold weather recently has been the perfect time for cozy sweaters. When I think of sweaters I think of warmth and comfort. Sweaters are an excellent layering piece. They can easily be worn over a tee or button up top. Even though there are a ton of sweaters out there in various colors, designs, and prints, I find myself drawn more to the fun prints. I love love LOVE the black sweater above that has the red cats in it. It is adorable and so me. Do you wear a lot of sweaters in the winter? Are you more of a solid color or more into the fun prints?

Hats Off

The Arctic blast last week definitely reminded me that we have a little over two months of Winter left. I have always felt kind of awkward wearing hats but with the temperatures set to take another huge dip next week I am considering the need to purchase a couple cute beanies preferably with a pompom. Two adorable and reasonably priced options are this and this.

Sit Tight in Black Tights

In the Winter keeping warm is always something you have to keep in mind when you are getting dressed in the morning. Pants are an obviously choice for the wintery weather because they keep your legs covered and warm. Dresses and skirts do not provide an easy warmth like pants do, but layering can help with this. Tights are a must for me in the Winter months when I wear a dress or skirt. Black tights to be exact. They just look so chic and classic. They work in any occasion. Black tights work with dresses for the office, flirty skirts for a night out with friends, and they work with more casual looks like the hunter boot look above. What are your thoughts?

Gone Plaid

I am currently coveting a plaid scarf. The versatile pattern comes in so many colors, scales, and fabrics. Plus, a cozy plaid scarf seems like almost a necessity this time of year. This, this, and this are three of my favorite options.

Bundle Up with Winter Hats

When it comes to winter weather it can get seriously cold. I'm talking if you are outside more than two minutes you feel like you are absolutely frozen. So if you are going to go outside you need to bundle up. Who isn't going to go out to go sledding, have snowball fights, or to make snowmen? One must have item is a winter hat. I, myself, am a huge fan of the crocheted winter hats especially the ones with the pompoms. I find these hats to be fun, warm, and a bit whimsical. I love this and this hat. What's your favorite style of winter hat? Are you like me and love the pompoms or do you prefer the furry hats or the felt hats?

Peacoats

Yesterday I had a snow day from work. YAY! The wintery weather definitely has me wishing my new coat would arrive already. Several days ago I finally ordered a new coat for myself. It is a peacoat. I absolutely love peacoats. Don't you? I have wanted one for a very long time and have just never bought one. I think peacoats are easily wearable with any type of attire be it for work, parties, going out with friends, and just running errands. There are so many beautiful color options, but I am more into the classic peacoats. I love the navy with beautiful buttons. While I love the shorter peacoats, I just know the longer ones will provide so much more warmth. What are your thoughts?

Dress Coats

Here we have already have several days of very cold weather, which led me to pull out my big, thick coat out of the back of the closet. Most days I don't wear a coat that is very thick or warm because on my way to work, I am not outside for very much time. This year though I have decided that I would love to have a new coat. In my search for a new coat I have come across pictures of beautiful skirted coats or dress coats. I love that these coats have swishy skirts that a girl can twirl in. I don't wear skirts or dresses very often, but if I did I would love a coat like the ones above. What are your thoughts on these coats?
