Feeling Gray

gray fashion and home decor
color crush gray
Feeling Gray
Jersey Sweatshirt / Chair / Mug / Cashmere Sweater / Throw Pillow - Sold Out (but I love this one too) / Gloves / Rococo Nail Varnish - Pop Polynesia / Coffee Table / Throw Blanket / Grid Print Midi Skirt / Bra / Jersey Dress

A few of my favorite gray items that match but are much lovelier (how amazing is this skirt?) than the weather we have been having lately. It has been gloomy, rainy, snowy, and cold here for over a week. I am beginning to miss the sun and this weather is making having to leave my comfy home (when I could be snuggled up in this blanket) and being back at work even less enjoyable. I probably shouldn't be complaining. At least there is currently no snow on the ground. Back to the items I have rounded up for today. I am in love with this coffee table. The soft gray color helps the branches base fit into my feminine aesthetic.

Fall Home Updates

Fall Home Updates
Pom Pom Throw / Leather Valet Tray / Star Glass Pendant / Leather Chair / Library Scone / Tartan Mugs / Wooden Salad Bowl / Suede Throw Pillow / Boxwood Wreath / Hardwood Stool / Antique Mirror Tray

A round up of a few fall updates to make your home cozy for fall. For fall I love to bring in natural elements like this boxwood wreath, gold accents like this library scone, a touch of tartan, and tan leather like this chair. I also think it is nice to keep several warm throws within reach for chilly evenings. A light like this beautiful star glass pendant has been on my wish list for a couple years now.

Easy DIY Floral Napkin Rings

Easy DIY Floral Napkin Rings
This easy DIY has to be one of my favorite things I have ever made. Jessica and I made these pretty floral napkin rings, that are perfect for summer, during a rare free evening while also enjoying a Netflix marathon. For less than $3 we made a complete set of 6 of these fun, colorful napkin rings. We have already used them several times and I can imagine them being a charming addition to brunches with friends and outdoor dinners.

Supplies:
Faux Flowers
Green Floral Tape
Wire Cutters

easy diy floral napkin rings

Directions:
1. Use the wire cutters to remove each flower stem from the base.
2. If you have any unwanted leaves remove them. I kept all of mine.
3. At the base of the flower begin wrapping the stem with the floral tape very tightly. As you continue working the tape will become more sticky. Cover the entire stem.
4. Cut away any remaining tape.
5. Roll the stem of the flower up to for the ring shape.
6. Holding the stem securely in place begin tight wrapping the entire stem once again in floral tape.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 for each flower stem.

The floral tape gets very sticky when you are working with it. This was my first time working with floral tape so I was a little worried while making the rings but the stickness goes away soon after you finish making the rings and stop handling the stem.

These napkin rings would make a great hostess gift, especially if you paired them with a set our Easy DIY Polka Dot Napkins.

P.S. You can find DIY Pom Pom Napkin Rings here.

Beach House Relaxation

Beach House Relaxation Last Summer was the first time I had ever been to the beach. We loved our week there so much that we went back again this Summer. I had no idea when we first went to the beach that I would enjoy it so much. It is just so beautiful and so relaxing. I can't believe that I had never been to the beach before last year! One day I would love to have a beach house! Wouldn't you?
Imagine the amazing view you would have of the beach and the ocean. Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to walk out of your house and be on the beach almost immediately? I would a beach house that had a relaxing and calming decor. I am thinking mainly shades of blue, white, and tan with a few pops of other colors. I would want my beach house to have simple decor and clean surfaces. I would want to incorporate some nautical or ocean details. Seahorses would be a must to have somewhere. What would be a must for you?

Counting Down The Days

I definitely am not ready to head back to the office next Monday and I plan to enjoy every last moment before I have to head back to work. While I am trying not to spend too much time thinking about work during this break one item I need to pick up is a new calendar. I will likely be purchasing either this beautiful botanical calendar or this elegant desk calendar. Three more of my favorites are below.

Desk Calendars

Black Desk Calendar / Kraft Desk Calendar / Paper Roosevelt Desk Calendar / Botanical Calendar / Tory Calendar

Holiday Table Top

During the last couple years I have a developed a huge love for the color gold (which I also shared here). I personally cannot think of a prettier way to host Christmas dinner than on a table decked out in gold that is sparking in candlelight. Included on my perfect table would be gold flatware ( this is also a great option) that I have longed to own for so long, these mugs, this table runner, and for a touch of festive green these rosemary topiaries (similar to the one I shared here). What are your Christmas dinner plans this year?

Thanksgiving Table Settings

{ Rosemary Wreath Place Cards}

The star on Thanksgiving is the delicious food. Since that is where everyone's primary focus and time is I think that the table settings should be simple, easy, and elegant. I love table settings with earthy elements such as rosemary, craberries, or a recent favorite magnolia leaves. I have rounded up a few of my favorite DIY projects that anyone can accomplish.

Bright Spots

Good lighting is essential and it is something I have struggled to have enough of in each place I have ever lived. I am in desperate need of a lamp for my bedroom. This one and this one are simply beautiful but are definitely huge splurges. I am kind of leaning toward purchasing either this one or this one. I love the gold color and think the look very elegant. Oh I have to add that I am kind of loving this bunny lamp but I question whether it is age appropriate for me. Which is your favorite below or do you have a suggestion of where I should look for some great lighting options?

Color Crush: Strike Gold

I have taken a shine to all things that are gold and glam. Gold is sophisticated, luxurious, and seems to fit the bill perfectly this time of year. A few of my favorites include this pretty barrette, this nail polish, and this grown up nightlight. Don't you think this and this would be beautiful for holiday dinner parties?

Working It

When I saw the feature on Glitter Guide of the home office that belongs to Katie Anderson of Modern Eve I immediately fell in love. I love the feminine details and creative space that Katie has created. I was also surprised to see a couple items from my dream home office list that made an appearance in her space ( this book and a pouf). Check out the rest of Katie's office here and you can find some items that are on my office wish list here.

Beautiful Tassels

Tassels are everywhere lately. Tassels are on home decor items, pillows, keychains, necklaces, shoes, and pretty much anything you can imagine. I love tassels. They just seem so playful and fun. If I see someone wearing shoes that have tassels on them, I automatically think they must be a fun and friendly type of person. Right now I am on the search for the perfect pair of loafers with tassels on them. I would love a fun color of shoes and tassels or a neutral shoe with a bright tassel. Do you have any ideas for where I should look? Below are a few of my favorite tassel pictures.

Aren't those earrings just adorable? The shoes above, I love, but I want a pair that is more light and fun looking. By this I mean I want brighter more playful looking colors. I also love the tassels on the bag in the last photo. I think tassels are a great accessory to add to a bag. I love that my Kate Spade bag has a beautiful tassel dangling from one side.

Dream Home Office Decor

I am still caught up in the idea of having a home office. Having a specific location to place my laptop, books, and office supplies would make working from home so much easier. I did a little online shopping earlier this week for items I would love to decorate a home office with. This chair has long been on my wishlist. A great rug is hard to find but I am loving this one. Do you have a home office? How is it decorated? I would love to see everyone's office so feel free to send me a picture.

DIY Wall Art

Every home- whether it is a house, apartment, or dorm room- needs to be decorated to make it cozy and beautiful. Pictures are an easy way to add beauty and your personality into a space. Buying beautiful pictures can be so costly and it can take loads of time to find the perfect pieces. Decorating with pictures or wall art you can really create a friendly atmosphere without taking up much space. By having a great atmosphere at your place you will love spending time there and so will your friends.
Why not get crafty and partake in some DIY projects to make your own artwork? This will let you have full control over the colors and let you really make the place your own. Not only that but it lets you save the time of finding the perfect pre-made items and it saves you money! I have found several DIY picture projects that I would like to complete in the near future.

1. In the picture at the top of this post you actually see two great ideas. First I love the idea of taking a canvas and using colored tape to create an interesting and unusual piece. Plus this would also be a great idea for covering a big space on the wall. Then in this picture you also see the idea of taking two words and using different colors of maybe scrap booking paper to spell them out.

2. This would be so simple and easy! Take a metallic paper, trace, and cut! Then just arrange it on a white paper and frame. I have also seen the letters arranged vertically. Easy and beautiful, right? Plus you could personalize this and do any word. Other words I would choose are hope, dream, peace, inspire, and imagine.

3. I think this one is so sweet and if you didn't want to do I Love You, you could always do this with a favorite quote.

4. While I like both pictures in this photo, my favorite is the chevron one. Take a canvas, some painters tape, and spray paint and you can achieve this. Arrange the tape in a chevron print using the tape and the canvas to make the stripes and then paint with the color of your choice!

5. Ombre paint pictures are beautiful. I love the colors chosen for this one, but again you could personalize and do shades of the color of your choice.

So what do you think? Is your creativeness awakened and ready to work on some DIY projects? Which is your favorite?
