Barbecues are a huge part of summer for us. They are one of our favorite ways to get family and friends together. Plus you get to eat great food. To me a BBQ is a time to relax and be comfortable and often during the summer that means shorts (how comfy do these look?) and a tee. With casual outfits lately I have been tending to keep my jewelry super simple. That is why I love these dainty studs and solitaire necklace. I am also one of those women who can never seem to go anywhere without a handbag because I always have so much stuff I want to bring along with me. I love this tote and would drop this pouch inside to help keep my belongings organized.

Do you barbecue frequently in the summer? Have you tried veggie hot dogs?? I think they are delicious.

When the warmer months hit, it is so nice to shade all of the layers that Winter made necessary. Shorts are an essential fashion item for Summer. They are cool, comfortable, and so much fun to wear. To spice things up a bit, you need a variety of shorts. Various colors, prints, and denim are a must for your Summer wardrobe. I'm a fan of floral prints- daisies, sunflowers, wildflower, etc. Of course you have to have a few good denim pairs in various shades. All of the shorts I'm sharing here are under $25. Shorts are an essential for Summer. When the long, hot days arrive everyone is wearing shorts on an almost daily basis. I'm a huge fan of denim, but a girl needs options in her closet, right? So having a few pairs of shorts with different prints are a way to mix things up and add more color to your look. Floral prints are great for shorts because they can incorporate various colors and give you a lot more options (colorwise) for how to style your look. I am also a fan of striped shorts and polka dot prints. The stripes instantly make me think nautical, especially when in navy, and the polka dots instantly make me want to go feminine with the look. When your shorts are a bold print with a lot of colors, my go to top is a simple white one. It gives the look a crisp finish. What are your favorite prints for shorts?

Short Suits for Summer

I believe that a short suit is a must have item for this summer. These are perfect for the summer temperatures and you will still look professional at the same time. I think these suits look chic and the right short suit could be perfect for work or going out with the right accessories. I think that I would rather have a solid colored short suit. I am loving the cream colored one in the first photo. It would work with so many tops and accessories. What are your thoughts?

Friday Favorites

How fun is this casual take on a short suit? I am ready to start wearing more florals (a springtime favorite of mine) and this blazer and short combo would be perfect weekend go to pieces. I was excited to come across this white rock candy of mine. It has been a favorite of mine since childhood. Sequin shorts are one article of clothing that I am falling in love with. I don't own a pair of them myself, but I absolutely love the way they look. I mean, what girl doesn't love a little sequin? A few days ago I shared here how the numerous sightings of sequins in Fall collections was making me giddy. My slight sequin obsession continues. One item at the top of my list is sequined shorts. They can easily be dressed up with a fitted blazer and heels. But I think even more impressive is adding a little sparkle to your most casual days by dressing them down with a tee and flats. As we are beginning to enter into the final weeks of summer, I want to share my love for studded denim shorts while the weather is still hot enough to justify wearing them on repeat. Denim shorts are a staple for fresh, young casual apparel during the summer. Adding studs gives them just a touch of grunge inspired edge.

This would be an easy DIY project to give new life to an old pair of denim shorts, but if DIY projects are not for you I have chosen a few favorites.

That's the Long and Short of It

When Spring comes out your Spring wardrobe, which contains shorts, bermuda shorts, and capris. When warmer weather finally comes after Winter, my wardrobe becomes a lot bigger, because I can wear a lot of things that I can't during the cold, snowy Winter. There are a lot of different options when it comes to shorts and capris, so don't tie yourself down to wearing the same kind of shorts and capris all the time. Diversity is a good thing. Below I have put together some of my favorite shorts, bermuda shorts, and capris. Oh and I love how in the photo above the girl is wearing some amazing tights under her shorts.

Jeans are simple and easy, but capris also come in a variety of other styles and colors. I LOVE the green capris above. They are so beautiful.

I love the deep green of the first pair and the second pair from Nordstroms is so chic.

I love the cute bow on this black pair of shorts. Recently I have seen several other bloggers post outfit pics of them wearing scalloped edged shorts and I find them simply beautiful. This pair has a beautiful floral design.
