Easy DIY Flower Crowns

What girl does not love a floral crown? They are totally impractical for me and I have no where to wear them to except the very rare outdoor music festival but that does not stop me from having a few sitting around my bedroom and occasionally wearing them with my jeans around the house. They instantly make me feel pretty, feminine, and to be totally honest kind of like a princess.

Several months ago we stumbled across a massive sale on faux flowers at Michael's. We stocked up on dozens upon dozens of fake blooms and I knew instantly that I wanted to make a flower crown. It wasn't until recently that we had the time to actually sit down and make the crowns.

Jessica and I made these easy DIY flower crowns a few weeks ago while having a Pretty Little Liars marathon. #DoNotJudge. We had them completely made in under an hour. I could not be happier with how they turned out. Pretty, colorful, and surprisingly sturdy.

I made my flower crown solely because I love how pretty they are but Jessica made her's with plans to wear it this Halloween as part of a fairy costume. When we were making them I learned that daisies are Jessica favorite flower.

Supplies:
Lots of Faux Flowers
Floral Wire
Hot Glue Gun with Glue Sticks
Wire Cutters
Floral Tape
Green Felt

Directions:
1. Make a circle with the floral wire that is about 4 to 5 inches bigger than you need it for the circumference of your head. You will need it bigger because once you add the flowers they will take up the extra space.
2. Cut the floral wire the size needed with your wire cutters and secure it together well with the floral tape.
3. Separate your flowers from their stems. I chose to do a variety for different flowers in a specific color scheme while Jessica decided to stick to daisies for your floral crown.
4. Glue your flowers close together using hot glue gun. Make sure there is no spaces or gaps between your flowers.
5. To prevent the hot glue once it is cooled off from tugging on your hair I found it necessary to go back and add small circular piece of felt to the back of the glued on flowers. You should do this step as you go.
6. Set your crown aside and allow to dry completely.

DIY: Confetti Party Sticks

This DIY it so easy to make and so much fun. I made these while watching some Netflix one evening. Stuffing the straws with confetti does take a little time, depending on how many you are going to do, but it is an easy task that you can accomplish while watching your favorite show. You can buy your confetti or make your own. I bought mine at the dollar store, I like that it is the metallic confetti. As for the straws, I purchased mine on Amazon. You just need to search milkshake straws or jumbo straws. For the confetti to easily fit you need thicker straws than you would normally use.

Once you have finished these you can use them for a variety of reasons. Are you throwing a party? Great now you have some pretty Confetti Party Sticks to use. Maybe you need to brighten your day? You can snip open one party stick and have fun. Want to add a little something extra to a letter you are sending your best friend? Cut open a confetti party stick and add some confetti!



Supplies

Clear Milkshake Straws
Stapler
Rubber Cement
Glitter

Directions
1. Staple one end of the straw together and then stuff with confetti until full. Staple the other end together. Repeat until you have as many confetti party sticks made as you want.
2. Use the rubber cement to cover each end and then dip each end in the glitter of your choice. This gives the confetti party sticks a little more pizzazz and hides the staples you have at each end. I used several colors of glitter but you can use whatever you want.
3. When you are ready to use the confetti party stick, just use scissors to snip one end off and shake to fling the confetti out.

DIY Firework Drink Stirrers

Can you believe we are less than a month away from celebrating Independence Day? It is crazy how fast this year is flying by. What are your plans for celebrating the Fourth of July? My entire family usually gets together for a barbecue.

Jessica made dozens of these firework drink stirrers over the weekend in preparation for celebrating. This craft is so easy and took only minutes to make.

The only supplies you need are metallic pipe cleaners, paper straws, wire-cutters, and scissors.

Cut each pipe cleaner into 4 equal pieces and then stuff as many as possible into each straw. I got 8 or 9 into each straw. If needed for your glasses use the scissors to trim each straw. Then simply shape the pipe cleaners as desired.

DIY Beautiful Washi Tape

I love washi tape and I do mean love. I am a hoarder of it. Seriously, I have a huge collection of washi tape in all colors and print imaginable. It's great for crafting and decorating letters or cards. Letters and cards for a great way to show people you care or to just send them some words of encouragement. Taking a minute to add washi tape to the envelop just makes it that much more special for the person you are sending it too.

When I discovered how to make your own washi tape, I was thrilled. This is such an easy process and so much cheaper than actually buying washi tape. Plus, this way you can find prints and colors you love and turn them into tape.



Supplies
Wax Paper

Double Sided Tape
Tissue Paper or Wrapping Paper
Empty Paper Towel Roll

Directions
1. Gather your materials. When it comes to choosing your tissue paper or wrapping paper, I found that picking more metallic, shiny papers where easier to work with than regular tissue paper or wrapping paper. With the shiny papers it is easier to correct mistakes.
2. Pull off a sheet of wax paper to whatever length you want. This will determine the length of a roll of your tape. Attache one side of the double sided tape to the wax paper. Then cut this strip out.
3. Attach tissue paper/wrapping paper to the other side of the tape and then trim to fit the strip.
4. Cut a section of the paper towel roll off and wrap your newly created tape around the roll. I used a paper clip to hold my tape around the paper towel roll.

2 Easy Gift Wrapping Ideas

In the past I was always the person running to the nearest store to quickly grab a gift bag and tissue paper to put gifts in moments before giving the gift to the recipient. Recently, however, I have really grown to appreciate pretty wrapped gifts. There is no doubt that receiving a gift that someone has taken a few minutes to wrap makes the present feel extra special no matter what is actually inside the wrapping.

For the pom pom wrapped gift all I did was wrap the present in craft paper and used the yarn to make a hot pink pom pom to top the gift. The method I used to make the pom pom is the same I used here.

To make the mini tassel all you need is washi tape, scissors, and baker's twine. Cut about 20 strips of washi tape that are 6 inches long and fold each strips in half lengthwise so that the sticky sides of the tape are together. Gather up your strips so they are all going the same direction and tie a small piece of string around the middle of the bundle. Fold the bundle at the string and wrap one more small strip of washi tape around the top of the bundle to hold it in its folded position. Use the excess string from when you tied the bundle to attach it to the string on your gift.

DIY Glittery Cork Board Coasters

These glittery cork board coasters were so fun and easy to make. They take less than 30 minutes of your time to make (excluding drying time) and are so sparkly they will make you smile. I love that these glittery cork board coasters are a useful item that you can always keep on display and were inexpensive to make. I also think a set of these wrapped up with a pretty ribbon would make a great gift.

Now to the matter of the supplies you will need.

Supplies:
Paint brush (I recommend you use an inexpensive on this one came in a pack of 5 for $1)
Mod Podge
Glitter (whatever kind you have will work but I really love this Martha Stewart Glitter Set)
Cork Coaster Set (like these but I picked my set of 6 of up at Hobby Lobby for under $3)
Painter's Tape

Directions:
1. Put a piece of craft paper or a newspaper on the table you will be working at.
2. Place painter's tape in the pattern you like on each of your coasters. As you can see in some of the pictures below Jessica did a different pattern than me.
3. Doing one coaster at a time brush a thin, even coat of Modge Podge on the areas of your coaster you have marked off with the painter's tape. Immediately cover the coated areas of the coaster with glitter. Then remove the painter's tape (so the glitter on the coaster doesn't dry on it and pull off when you remove the tape later.) 4. Set aside to dry.
5. Complete this process with your remaining coasters. Then allow about 30 minutes to dry completely.
6. Shake off excess glitter and then cover the glittered portions of your coaster with Modge Podge and set aside to completely dry.
7. Admire your handy-work.

2 Easy DIY Halloween Garlands

Halloween gives Christmas a run for its money as my favorite holiday. This year me and Jessica are hosting our first Halloween party so we have been busy making plans and decorating. We made the two garlands in under an hour and I think the bat garland is adorable.

Supplies for Ribbon Garland:
Several Rolls of Ribbon in desired colors and patterns
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

Directions:
This is just like the ribbon garlands you made as a child. Simply cut the ribbons into pieces about 8 inches long. Create a loop and glue it together. Make the next loop through your first loop and glue the ends together. Continue until you have the desired length.

Supplies for Bat Garland:
Black Twine
Mini Wiggle Eyes
Black Foam or Felt Sheets
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

Directions:
We used foam sheets but you could easily substitute felt. We made a template on a sheet of paper and used it to cut our bats from the foam. Hot glue the twin to the back of the bats skipping a little space between each bat. Allow to dry. Then on the front of the bats glue two of the wiggle eyes and allow to dry.

Easy DIY Halloween Spider Picture Frames

We love Halloween. It is odd but I love Halloween so much more now as a grownup than I did when I was a child. I started almost a month ago planning our upcoming Halloween party and have had my Halloween costume for a few weeks already. We started last pulling out our Halloween supplies last weekend to take stock of what decorations we currently have and what we want to purchase this year.

I saw a photo of spider picture frames decorating a home somewhere last year and when I remembered the image last weekend I knew it would be so easy to recreate. It barely took 10 minutes and only a few dollars worth of supply to make these two spooky spider picture frames.

Supplies:
White Paper
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Plastic Spiders/Bugs
Picture Frames

Directions:
1. Cut the white paper to size to fit inside the picture frames.
2. After placing the white paper inside the picture frames use the hot glue gun to adhere the plastic spiders/bugs in your desired location on the outside of the glass.
3. Allow the glue to dry.

DIY: Glittery Star Cake Topper

Tracy and I love to bake and to try DIY projects. Recently we have been trying different kinds of cakes. Over the three day weekend, Tracy made this gorgeous cake. To jazz it up a bit I decided to make a glittery star cake topper. This was a quick and easy craft to make. This was my first attempt at a cake topper, what do you think?

Skewers
Glittery Stars
Glue Gun

1. Gather your supplies. I found the stars I used at Michael's in the scrapbooking supplies. You could always use glittery scrapbooking paper and make your own in whatever colors you choose.
2. Lay your star face down and apply a drop of hot glue. Press the skewer into the dot of glue and then add a little more hot glue to hold the skewer to the star.
3. Put these to the side and allow them to completely dry before using. I left mine alone for about 30 minutes. Then arrange in your cake.

I could also see putting these on smaller skewers with the smaller stars and putting them in cupcakes.

DIY Confetti Art

My pictures do not do this easy DIY Confetti Art justice. To be such a simple and quick craft it is truly stunning. It only requires a few supplies and costs only a few dollars to make. Plus in only about 30 minutes you have a beautiful piece of artwork. I chose metallic gold and glitter gold card stock for my confetti but you can choose whatever colors compliment your decor. I had initially made my confetti canvas to place in my office but I after loving the outcome I placed it on my bedroom dresser instead.

Supplies:
Canvas
Card Stock
Rubber Cement
Large Hole Punch

Directions:
1. Use your large hole punch to punch holes from the card stock. A 1 inch or 2 inch hole puncher should work depending on the size you want your confetti.
2. Play around with the placement of the confetti on the canvas.
3. Once you are satisfied with the confetti placement, lightly coat the back of each confetti piece with rubber cement and adhere to the canvas.
4. Allow to dry completely.

DIY Pom Pom Napkin Rings

These were so easy to make and they turned out so adorable. I can't wait to use them at our next family dinner or the next time I have friends over. This was a simple DIY. I had to make a couple of pom poms before I figured out exactly what worked for me, but after that it was a breeze.


Supplies
Yarn/Pom Poms
Scissors
Elastic Hairband


1. Make all of your pom poms. You will need 2-4 pom poms per napkin ring depending on the size of your pom poms. All of ours have 3 pom poms on them. You can use a pom pom maker to make your pom poms or use the tutorial at Positively Splendid. I did not have a pom pom maker so I used the tutorial only I wrapped the yarn around my fingers instead of the pieces of cardboard.
2. When making your pom poms leave one long piece of yarn. If you accidentally snip it off, it's ok. Just tie a long piece of yarn around the center of your pom pom.
3. Take a hairband, using the long piece of yarn tie 2-4 pom poms to the hairband. I twisted the long pieces together and tied them all on at one time. Tracy tied each pom pom individually. It really doesn't matter, just whichever is easier for you. Once tied on, you can cut off the long pieces of yarn.
