Cocktail Ring Anyone?

If you have paid much attention to our blog, you know that Tracy absolutely loves jewelry of all kinds. Me? I'm more of a necklace kind of girl, but Tracy loves it all. If it sparkles, glitters, or shines Tracy wants it. Seriously, one day when I was walking past Tracy's bedroom door she was like let's look at my jewels. She shows me her beautiful jewelry and then she opens another drawer and she is like this is my Kate Spade jewels. Holy crap man! She has one drawer of just Kate Spade jewels.

Rings are one of Tracy's favorites. She loves big cocktail rings that make a statement and if I wore rings that often they would definitely be the type I would wear too. I love the flash and pizzazz of a statement ring. Don't you? Get dressed, fix your hair, and then throw on a statement ring to add some personality to your look. Everyone notices these big rings and will give you numerous compliments.

Here are some other great options:

My Current Favorite Accessory

Kate Spade Gold Bracelet Watch - Daniel Wellington Leather Watch - Fossil Ceramic Watch
Michael Kors Double Wrap Watch - Michael Kors Chain Bracelet Watch - Burberry Check Strap Watch
My Current Favorite Accessory

During Summer break my go to accessory was a necklace, but since my break ended a month ago and work has resumed my favorite accessory has become the watch. With my schedule I am constantly looking at the time, checking the progress of our lesson. Are we going to have time to finish what I had planned? Are we going to finish early? Will we have time to discuss this as much as I want? Will I have to use my backup task because we are flying through this? Is it time for lunch or my break?

Time plays a major role in my job. I need to keep my students engaged and on task for the short 50 minutes that I have them. I have to use all of my time with them wisely so that they can learn the concepts and skills that I need to teach them. I have to plan my lessons keeping timing and pacing in mind. Is this going to last too long and the kids become bored? Is it enough time for them to grasp the concept? Even with the best plans made, things can change instantly when you actually go to implement them. Students may surprise you and get something so much faster than you thought, which will speed up your plans, or there might be a misconception that totally confuses everyone and you have to use more time to work through it.

When I'm working a watch is my best friend. I have to keep track of the time that I have with my kids so that I can make every minute count. Before I head out the door every morning I slip my watch on. On those days that I forget because it was a hectic morning, I am thrown a little off balance. Instead of a quick glance at my wrist to check the time, I have to constantly twist and turn my head to find the nearest clock. Life is so much simpler with a watch on.

As you can tell from the polyvore above, I tend to gravitate towards neutral watches. They go with any look. Right now my favorite that I own is a white Fossil watch. I have had my Fossil watch for several years now, it was a Christmas gift from my mom and dad. My other favorite brands for watches are Kate Spade and Daniel Wellington. I love how simple and classic the Daniel Wellington watches are. Kate Spade watches are beautiful and always have a fun twist on them. What's your favorite?

Kate Spade Cat's Meow Collection
I have been a huge Kate Spade fan forever. Seriously, I can't think of anything she comes up with that I don't love. Recently the Kate Spade Cat's Meow Collection came out and I am in love with all of the cuteness! It's no secret that cats are my absolutely favorite animal and that my little Mister Cat (who happens to be an adorable ginger cat) is very important to me. So this collection involves two things that I love Kate Spade and cats! Above are some of my favorites items from the collection. What do you think?

Vacation Jewelry
Knotted Tassel Necklace / Double Gem Stone Hammered Hoop Earrings (love these!) / Cape Town Bracelet Set / Dreamcatcher Bib / Stud Earrings / Fringe Earrings (only $28!) / Enamel Ring / Dual Stone Bracelet / Major Cord Collar

In less than two weeks Jessica and I are headed to the beach for 10 days. I have a lot to do between now and then but I cannot wait. Usually for vacations I like to head off and spend a week or two exploring some busy, full of energy city but sometimes my body and mind just need some time to relax. That is exactly what this beach vacation will be. Other than lazy days spent on the beach or by the pool we have very little else scheduled. Above is an ideal list of jewelry I would love to pack for my beach getaway including these pretty earrings and this fun assortment of bracelets.

Spring Trend: Hair Accessories
I love hair accessories. I have a huge collection of headbands and hair barrettes that I wear on a regular basis. Knowing they are a huge trend right now has me pulling them out even more often. I have been swooning over this very expensive headband headband for days but it well out of my price range, however, I just ordered this jewel head wrap that I cannot wait to wear.

Gold watches are a timeless classic that never go out of style. Being the accessory girl that I am I picked up this gold pave watch a few months ago and it has quickly became a wardrobe staple for me. I wear it with everything. I have also found that it is a great piece to layer with a stack of bangles. Size of the watch a matter of preference. My favorite are oversized because they are not too dainty or fussy.

On A Pin: Brooches
Beetle Pin Brooch / Dragonfly Brooch (small and dainty) / Paola Brooch / Padma Brooch / Star Cluster Brooch / Crystal Brooch (oversized and sparkly) / Feathered Brooch / Crystal Feather Brooch

The last few days we have been taking depositions at my office and one of the attorneys from the other law firm has shown up each day wearing fascinating brooches. My interest was immediately peaked on Monday when I spotted her wearing a large incredibly sparkly brooch, similar to this one. Yesterday she was wearing an adorable honey bee brooch. I was unable to find a similar one online but this little beetle pin is just as pretty. Do you ever sport a brooch? I am thinking about picking up a few to pin on my cardigans and blazers this fall.

DIY Hair Ties

DIY Hair Ties Supplies
Scissors
Fold Over Elastic
Lighter
Ruler

1. Cut off an 8-10 inch long piece of fold over elastic, depending on how thick your hair is.
2. Fold in half.
3. Knot.
4. You need to seal the edges of the hair tie, use the lighter to singe them.

These hair ties were so easy to make. Tracy and I ended up making a lot of these very quickly. I did the calculations and we made our hair ties for under 9 cents a piece. You pay dollars for these at a store! We have already ordered some more fold over elastic so that we can make more in a variety of colors and patterns.

If you like the glittery jewelry dishes we have the hair ties sitting on in this picture, you can find the DIY information here.

Make a Statement: Statement Necklaces

One of my favorite accessories is a necklace. I really think that necklaces are my favorite piece of jewelry. They are so easy and simple to slip on and yet can make such a change in the way the your look comes together. A while back I thought that longer pendant like necklaces where my favorites and I wasn't really a fan of statement necklaces. I know, crazy right?
I love statement necklaces now. They can really work with any type of outfit be it casual, work, or dressed up. I love how the addition of a beautiful statement necklace can make a somewhat tomboyish casual outfit suddenly feminine and chic. Over the past 4-5 months I have gathered quite a collection of necklaces. I have even told myself not to buy any more, but who can resist?

The Perfect Signet Ring

I love a good monogram item. My entire family still creates Christmas Wish List each year that we all display on my parents refrigerator on the weeks leading up to Christmas. This year the top item on my list was a gold signet ring. I was ecstatic when my parents told me that if I picked out the exact ring I wanted it would likely appear under the tree. I spent days searching but I couldn't find just the right ring that had every characteristic I was looking for but just a few days ago I accidentally stumbled upon it. The perfect signet ring.

The Original Recessed Monogram Ring at Reeds Jewelers has every detail I have been looking for in a signet ring. Gold, the perfect size, block letters that are a little more masculine than the feminine details I usually go for, and budget friendly. Since spotting this ring I have been having a hard time keeping my shopping ban for the month of February.

Has A Nice Ring To It: An Anjolee Review

Anjolee recently sent me this amazing, sparkly topaz version of one of their Eternity Rings. It was like receiving an extra Christmas present and has been a wonderful addition to my jewelry box.

Anjolee is a great source when it comes to jewelry--they offer bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, and pendants. Anjolee also offers all their customers customized jewelry where the customer can choose from the type of stones and carat weights to the metals used and the chain length for each necklace and bracelet. The entire process for customizing and creating your own unique piece is extremely easy.

My topaz arrived promptly and beautifully packaged in a stylish wooden box that is very useful for storage. I am so impressed with the quality of my ring. The stones are neatly set and very dazzling. The ring is delicate but very strong. I love that my ring is appropriate for everyday wear while still feeling very special.

Anjolee's website perhaps says it best, "Anjolee is the only jewelry website with a unique customization system which gives you the ability to custom-build all of our jewelry designs based on taste and budget."
Topaz ring received courtesy of Anjolee. This is a sponsored post, however, all opinions are my own.

Winter Accessories

In the winter one thing on our minds is staying warm, so we have to accessorize to help us achieve warmth. You can still add layers and accessories and remain stylish, cute, and chic. You just have to choose the right scarves, hats, gloves, and etc. Below are some of my winter accessory finds for helping you stay warm.
Winter Accessories

Ribbed Bloom Hat - Deep Faux Fur Hat - Glitz and Haze Earmuffs - Rosette Earmuffs - Sequin Knit Hat - Purple Chevron Knit Scarf - Fuzzy Earmuffs - Faux Fur Earmuffs - Drake's Fair Isle Scarf - Gloves International - Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves - Isotoner Snowflake Mittens
What are some accessories that you bring out at winter time? Do you have a go to favorite? One of my favorites is a beige scarf with dots of maroon, dark blue, and purple in it. It was knitted by a student of mine a couple of winters ago. I purchased it at a Christmas festival where she had many on display and for sale. It is very warm and matches my favorite dark brown winter coat perfectly!

Brooches are one of my newfound loves. They are the perfect accessory to add to any outfit. They are so easy to mix and match. Put a brooch or two on a cardigan, a scarf, a headband, or a blazer. Every girl loves a little sparkle and what better way to add some glitz to a look? I love brooches that are in the form of animals and vintage brooches like my grandma wore. Every time I go to a consignment shop I look at the brooches. I only have a few so far, but I would love to have a huge collection. What about you? Do you have a favorite brooch?

All Tied Up

Source: saifou.com via Sunny on Pinterest

It is stunning how a simple black ribbon can really elevate any look. Whether tied around your waist, neck, or hair a black bow is chic and simple while somehow managing to provide just enough dramatic flare. A well placed black ribbon can easy eliminate the need for most other accessories. Black ribbon is well on its way to becoming my current accessory of choice.

Cameo Appearance

Historians have debated on when and where Cameo type accessories first began to be made. Some believe ancient Egyptians started this trend others believe it all happened in Greece. Most of the older cameos are white on black, white on reddish brown, or white on blue. The cameos that I have usually seen usually contain the silhouette of a woman's face. Today you see them in all types of colors with all different kinds of subjects. I love their beauty and gracefulness, but I also love the quirkiness of the cameo's that have a subject other than a woman. I would absolutely love to have that octopus cameo above. What are your thoughts on cameos? Do you prefer the traditional woman's silhouette or the non-traditional ones like the octopus?
